Lake Atitlán Villages Completed at the end of 2015

Santa Cruz de la Laguna

The delightful village of Santa Cruz de La Laguna is located in the Guatemalan Highlands on the shore of Lake Atitlán. This isolated mountain village is accessible only by boat or foot. The municipality of Santa Cruz (pop. 5,000) is one of the most underdeveloped in Guatemala. Theirs is a constant struggle against poverty, disease, and malnutrition. They have overwhelming needs with almost no access to resources. We have a total of 5 villages there:  Santa Cruz de la Laguna, Tzununá, Tzanjomel, Chuitzanchaj and Pajomel.

Tzanjomel is a very special village.  It is perched on a narrow mountain ledge above the mountainside from Tzununá and received their life-changing molino (corn grinder) 3  years ago.  Please refer to their exciting development in both our 2011 and 2012 newsletters.
